At digi-pin.in and digipinindia.in, our mission is to democratize access to India's innovative Digital Postal Index Number (DIGIPIN) system. We've built a user-friendly, feature-rich platform that empowers individuals and businesses to easily discover, share, and utilize DIGIPINs for precise location identification across India.

We believe that essential digital infrastructure should be accessible to everyone, and we're committed to making DIGIPIN technology more intuitive and practical for everyday use.

Note: This project was developed as a hobby and as a learning exercise to explore new technologies, particularly AI-assisted development. It serves as a demonstration of how open-source government initiatives can be enhanced with modern web technologies and improved user interfaces.

The Official DIGIPIN Initiative

The Digital Postal Index Number (DIGIPIN) is a groundbreaking initiative by the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India. Developed in collaboration with esteemed institutions including IIT Hyderabad and NRSC, ISRO, DIGIPIN represents a revolutionary approach to addressing in the digital age.

DIGIPIN is an open-source, geo-coded addressing system that assigns a unique 10-digit alphanumeric code to every approximate 4m × 4m grid unit across India. This innovative system serves as a foundational layer for India's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), enabling "Address as a Service" (AaaS) for seamless delivery of both public and private services.

Our Enhanced Platform: Bridging the Gap

Building upon the robust open-source foundation provided by the Indian Postal Department, we've developed an improved and more intuitive version of the DIGIPIN lookup service. Our focus has been on enhancing user experience and adding practical functionalities that make DIGIPIN more accessible and useful in real-world scenarios.

Important: This is an independent, non-official implementation. We are using the official DIGIPIN codebase solely to create a better user interface and add convenience features. The Government of India retains all rights regarding this technology and may request the removal of this website at any time.

• 🔍 Google Map Search Integration Unlike other DIGIPIN websites, our platform allows users to directly search for locations using Google Maps' powerful search capabilities. Simply type an address, landmark, or area name, and our system instantly provides the corresponding DIGIPIN for that precise location. No need for manual latitude/longitude input.
• 📍 Automatic Location Detection Our platform automatically requests location permission on page load, making it effortless to find your current DIGIPIN. If you're within India, your DIGIPIN is displayed instantly with a zoomed-in map view of your location.
• 🔗 Effortless Share Links Easily share any generated DIGIPIN with others through direct shareable links. Recipients can navigate to popular navigation websites (Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, etc.) with the location pre-populated, ensuring accurate directions.
• 📱 Instant QR Code Generation Every DIGIPIN generated on our site comes with an option to generate a QR code. Scan with any smartphone to instantly reveal the DIGIPIN and its corresponding location on a map—perfect for quick sharing and on-the-go access.
• 🎨 Modern, Responsive Design We've invested in a responsive and modern user interface, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience across all devices—from desktops to mobile phones. The design follows modern UX principles and accessibility standards.
• 🌐 Multiple Input Methods Find DIGIPINs through various methods: click on the map, enter coordinates, search by address, or use your device's GPS location. We've made it as flexible as possible.
